Volunteers sought for spring clean of local public spaces

Bradford Council is looking for community-spirited helpers to join its annual spring clean – this year the Great Bradford Clean Up.

Volunteers are being invited to arrange local clean ups to help spruce up and litter-pick their local public spaces – including streets, parks, alleyways, open spaces and roadsides .

The clean ups are taking place across each of the district’s five constituency areas, including Keighley and Ilkley, from 11th to 25th March.

The spring cleans ensure that the district is ready for the sunnier weather and attractive to visitors from near and far.

If you want to organise a community clean-up you can find out more by calling 01535 618008 or emailing keighleyareacoordinatorsoffice@bradford.gov.uk

The council will supply tabards, litter pickers, gloves, bin bags, and a bag collection service and provide advice to help residents and communities to get involved in the campaign.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Portfolio Holder for Healthy People and Places, said: “This annual spring clean is a great boost for our neighbourhoods in both making places look attractive and tidy for spring, but also bringing people together doing something really positive and worthwhile. I hope people will support us by getting involved.”
