Volunteer-run railway puts in Covid measures for beer festival

The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is going ahead with its beer festival this weekend after introducing a series of measures to ensure social distancing.

The event runs on Saturday, Sunday and Monday across the Bank Holiday weekend, with private train compartments available as well as reserved tables in the marquee.

There is live entertainment as well as a wide range of real ales, wide range of beers, gins, perries, ciders and lagers.

Tickets need to be booked in advance so that attendees' names can be recorded for track and trace purposes.

Event Organiser Ryan Whitaker told Rombalds Radio: "The main thing is social distancing and we've got checkpoints around the station. All our staff will be temperature checked and face coverings will be worn when serving drinks and food. We've got one way systems and hand sanitiser points. We've been running since 25th July with full trains and not had a single complaint, so we're doing something right."

Bibby's of Ingleton is providing coaches to shuttle people from Skipton town centre up to Embsay throughout the weekend with no charge to passengers.
