Views sought on future opening hours for local GP services

People across the Aire and Wharfe Valleys are being asked for their views on proposals to enhance GP surgery hours.

The suggested changes are part of new arrangements that will see GP practices working closing together as primary care networks.

A survey has been developed by Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership and is open until Sunday 21st August 2022. Responses will be analysed on behalf of primary care networks (groups of GP practices working together across the district). There are 12 primary care networks covering the Bradford District and Craven.

GP practices in the Bradford District and Craven are working together to look at how services could be provided outside of the core practice opening hours of 8.00am – 6.30pm. GP practices want to hear from people to find out their views on how accessible opening times for GP services are and whether there is a need to extend the core opening hours for any of their services.

You can have your say about how and when you would prefer to access care by answering the online survey to say what is important and what matters to you when needing services provided by GP practices.

David D’Arcy, Strategic Head of Primary Care, said: “I encourage people to fill in the survey, we want to hear your views to make sure any decisions made are beneficial to the people in the Bradford District and Craven area. Your views will help shape the future of healthcare across our partnership, answering the survey is a great way to make sure you have your say on how you can access care. I am proud we can work together to improve the health and lives of those in our place.”

Once the survey closes the responses will be collected by Bradford District Health and Care Partnership and shared with the relevant individual GP practices to look at the anonymous responses and follow up with their patients the outcome of the survey.

If you are unable to access the survey online and would like to ask for a printed copy, you can email communications@bradford.nhs.uk

The closing date for the survey is Sunday 21st August 2022.
