Vehicle seized after reports of flytipping in Oakworth

Bradford Council has worked with the police to seize a vehicle involved in fly-tipping locally last month.

Initial investigations by the council’s Neighbourhood Wardens into a report of fly-tipping on Long Gate, Oakworth in early September, resulted in the Environmental Enforcement Team’s CCTV cameras capturing footage of the crime.

The CCTV footage shows the Ford Transit Tipper being driven onto the deserted lane close to Keighley Moor late at night, where the waste was fly-tipped.

Council Enforcement Officers working in conjunction with Neighbourhood Wardens discovered the vehicle parked behind Malsis Road in Keighley and with the support of the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team the vehicle was seized.

Bradford Council’s investigation is ongoing and the vehicle owner will be interviewed as part of that process.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “This is another example of great collaborative working between our Environmental Enforcement Officers and West Yorkshire Police in being able to take another vehicle involved with fly-tipping off the road. If the vehicle is unroadworthy and has no resale value it will be crushed.”

Anyone who sees fly-tipping taking place is asked to note down as many details as possible, including times and dates and vehicle registration numbers and inform the council.

If you witness fly-tipping taking place and have information you can report it via www.bradford.gov.uk or telephone 01274 431000.
