Two Rivers Concert Band excited about Winter Concert in Ilkley

Two Rivers Concert Band will present their 2021 Winter Concert at All Saints Church in Ilkley on Saturday 11 December.

Their Musical Director Mike O’Farrell has planned a varied and entertaining evening of music, and there will be a real festive feel to the occasion. The concert is part of the Ilkley Arts Festival.

It is now nearly two years since the Ilkley based Concert Band last live concert. But in spite of lockdowns and coronavirus restrictions they haven’t lost any of their enthusiasm for music making. They have been practising hard and a total of 37 band members have signed up to perform at the Concert so a big sound is guaranteed.

Last year the Band’s on line “Twelve Days of Christmas” concert raised an amazing £1,300 for Bradford Central Foodbank. This year they will be holding a collection in aid of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), the international charity which band members have chosen to support.

Tickets for the concert cost just £10 including programme and interval refreshments. They are available from the Two Rivers website www.tworiversbands.org.uk and can also be purchased on the door. Doors open at 7pm and the music will start at 7.30pm.

Two Rivers Bands Chair Les Goldman said “We’re so excited that Concert Band will finally be able to perform live and to be playing at the beautiful All Saints Church. We’ve tried hard to keep music going for our members through this difficult and challenging period. We hope that everyone who comes along will enjoy a great evening of community music making and go home with their spirits lifted.”

In the two weeks after the concert, small groups of Two Rivers Band members will be seen playing carols around the town. They will be performing in the Manor House Courtyard; at Ilkley Station; and also at several local Care Homes as part of Make Music Day Winter celebrations

And on Saturday January 8 Two Rivers Swing Band will be welcoming in the New Year with a long awaited Dance at Ilkley's Winter Garden. Their programme of big band favourites plus jive lessons by the amazing Swing Cats will be sure to have everyone dancing the night away. Tickets will be going on sale soon. See the Band website for details.
