Timothy Taylor's relaunches Havercake in cask at local beer festival

Keighley brewery Timothy Taylor's has announced that its Havercake ale will make its debut in cask at the upcoming Keighley & Worth Valley Beer & Music Festival.

Originally brewed to honour the soldiers of the Duke of Wellington's Regiment, the beer was affectionately nicknamed 'Havercake Lads'. The name is derived from the oatmeal bread cake that was the staple food of the Yorkshire Pennine towns and villages where most of the soldiers lived.

Havercake has been created using a mixture of amber malt and two types of oat malt. The brewery says this delivers a "full-bodied, moreish ale with a creamy head and slight sweetness".

Timothy Taylor's is supporting ABF The Soldier's Charity by donating 10p from every pint sold. The charity supports soldiers, past and present, and their families for life.

Havercake will be making its debut at the KWVR Beer & Music Festival which runs from 13th to 16th October.

It will then be available at pubs the following week, including the company's own venues such as Taylor's on the Green in Keighley and the Woolly Sheep in Skipton.
