Local daredevils are invited to take on a thrilling zip wire ride over Ilkley Moor this summer to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope.
The one-off ‘Zip the Cow’ event, which was originally due to take place in 2020 but had to be postponed due to COVID-19, will see brave individuals climb the iconic ‘cow’ at the Cow and Calf above Ilkley, before whizzing 270m down Ilkley Moor at speeds of up to 40mph.
It follows the huge success of ‘Zip the Pepper Pot’ in 2019, which saw over 300 people take to the skies and zip-wire from the top of Lund’s Tower in the village of Sutton-in-Craven, generating an incredible £50,000 to support the hospice.
Sponsored by RDC Solicitors, 247 Nursing and Woodhouse Grove School, Zip the Cow will initially take place over the weekend of the 24-25 July, with the majority of spaces filled by those who deferred from the 2020 event. However, due to popular demand, a new date of Sunday 29 August, headline sponsored by Woodhouse Grove School, has also been announced so more people have the opportunity to take part.

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice provides expert care, advice and support to people with life limiting conditions across Airedale, Wharfedale, Craven and Bradford, as well as supporting their families. It is the primary provider of specialist palliative care in LS29.
