Third Sue Ryder charity shop opens in Keighley

A third charity shop in Keighley raising money for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice has opened on the town's Alston Retail Park near B&Q.

The new branch sells second-hand clothes, accessories, homeware, electrical items, music and books with all proceeds going to the work of the charity.

The Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice at Oxenhope provides care and support for people from across Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven with terminal illnesses and neurological conditions, as well as supporting individuals who are bereaving the loss of a loved one.

Volunteers are also being sought to work across its three Keighley charity shops. In addition to the new store in the former Yorkshire Linen Co unit next to Home Bargains, Sue Ryder has shops in the Airedale Shopping Centre and in the former McDonalds building next to the toy shop on Cavendish Street.

Manager, Lianne Smith, said: “Opening a new store in Keighley – ‘home’ to Sue Ryder Manorlands hospice – is a really exciting retail development for us. There is something for everyone in the new premises and I am sure shoppers will be delighted by the exceptional quality and value and the wide range of goods we are selling.

“The funds raised from the shop will help ensure Sue Ryder can be there when it matters for those in need of palliative, neurological or bereavement support.”

Keighley MP Robbie Moore cut the ribbon to open the new branch and said: "Sue Ryder are a popular charity in the area thanks to the amazing work its volunteers do for people when they’re in real need. Hundreds of people in Keighley raise money for the charity by taking part in a 5k and 10k running race. Thousands also shop in their Keighley stores to enable to charity to carry out their important work.

“I hope their third store will be incredibly successful and would encourage anybody interested to get in touch about volunteering.”
