Teenager suffers serious injuries in Skipton assault

Police in Skipton area appealing for witnesses to an altercation in the town centre that left a 19 year old in a serious condition.

Officers were called to Keighley Road near the Fleece pub shortly after midnight last night (Friday 26th August 2022) to reports of an altercation between two men.

On arrival officers found a 19-year-old man had sustained a serious injury to his stomach. He was taken to hospital where he currently remains in a serious condition.

A 21-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assault. He currently remains in police custody.

A cordon was put in place on the corner of Keighley Road at the junction with Sackville Street to allow investigation work to take place. This was still in force during the morning, but has since been removed.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “The investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident is underway.

“Several people were in the area at the time of the incident, and I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or events prior to it to come forward.”
