World T'ai Chi Day is being marked in Skipton again this year with a demonstration of the martial art by a local group of teachers and pupils.

The demonstration is due to take place at Skipton Canal Basin at 2pm on Saturday 29th April, led by Julie Jones from T'ai Chi Skipton.

Julie says: “Chi is your life force – it’s the energy that flows through you, giving you vitality and keeping you healthy. T’ai Chi’s origins are based on Taoist philosophy, Chinese Martial Arts and traditional Chinese medicine.

“The moves are very slow and deliberate, and are very beautiful to watch, but feel even better to perform. T’ai Chi has been helping to keep people healthy for thousands of years, helping improve posture, balance, breathing, co-ordination and relaxation.”

Julie holds several weekly classes in the Skipton area. Beginners are always welcome. Contact her via taichiskipton@gmail.com
