Skipton school to hold first reunion event since 2019

Former pupils of Skipton’s Ermysted’s Grammar School are being invited to a reunion event next month - the first one to take place since the pandemic.

Ermysted’s Old Boys’ Society is hosting the open day and barbecue lunch on Saturday 1st July at the school on Gargrave Road.

Prefects will take former pupils on tours of the school site, while a 5-a-side football tournament in the sports hall will see current pupils compete against teams of Old Boys from different year groups.

Old Boys’ Society Secretary Stuart Clarkson says: “We’re delighted to welcome former pupils back to school for an event, after what seems like a long time.

“We were unable to run our usual reunion dinners in 2020 and 2021 because of the lockdown restrictions in place - and since then we’ve been working towards re-vamping the Society.

“We’ve already got around 60 former pupils and staff booked in for the event on 1st July and many of them are people who’ve not been back to school since they left, so we’re really looking forward to seeing some new faces as well as some familiar ones!”

The event takes place at Ermysted’s on Saturday 1st July between 10am and 2pm, with tours of the school followed by food and drinks outdoors in the ‘Quad’.

Current and former pupils of the school are also being encouraged to take part in the Parkrun event in Aireville Park at 9am on the same morning to earn points for a School v Old Boys 5km run.

Booking is required for the events at the school on 1st July, with a £10 ticket including an item from the barbecue and a drink. For more details and to buy tickets, former pupils should visit ermystedsoldboys.co.uk or contact the Old Boys’ Society on 01756 880085.
