Skipton Choir and community orchestra team up for summer concert

The Skipton Choir and the town’s Community Orchestra are coming together again on Saturday 1st July for a night of song and music in aid of charity.

Their joint summer concert will take place at Skipton Town Hall and is being held in aid of Dementia Forward. It is being organised by orchestra members Catherine Davison and Anita Birch.

The 30-strong orchestra, conducted by Jess Mahler, will take the audience on a musical journey around the British Isles. The performance will feature classical and contemporary pieces from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The Skipton Choir first performed with the community orchestra at Christchurch, exactly a year ago. Led by musical director David Weale, this summer’s repertoire is set to include an Andrew Lloyd Webber medley and songs from Queen, The Beatles and Kate Bush.

Catherine Davison says: "After such a successful and enjoyable concert last July, Skipton Community Orchestra is excited to be joined again by The Skipton Choir. The concert last year was so well-attended, and we received such positive feedback, we wanted to join forces again.

“The concert will be a family friendly event and while entry is free, donations for the charity will be most welcome. Given the popularity of the show last year, we’d also strongly recommend that anyone wanting to come along reserves a seat via Skipton Town Hall website."

The concert starts at 7pm on Saturday 1st July and the Town Hall bar will be open from 6pm and during the interval.
