Skipton charity bake raises nearly £800

A charity cake bake at Skipton's High Corn Mill has raised £790 for Parkinson's UK.

The lunchtime fundraiser last week was supported by tenants at the mill along with a steady stream of visitors to its shops, services and historic waterwheel attraction. In addition to cakes, coffee and mulled wine, merchandise featuring the mill and celebrity camper van, Skippy, was on sale.

Organiser Andrew Mear said: “In total the cake bake event, Christmas market and sales of the new merchandise have raised £790.

“For a bitterly cold Tuesday we were really pleased with the turnout – and once again amazed by the generosity of people who were quick to support the cause.

“Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition and the charity is committed to funding pioneering research to find a cure and offer personalised support services. My own grandfather suffered with the condition which is why I have become such a big supporter in recent years.”
