The progress of the Ilkley Neighbourhood Development Plan is to be discussed at the next meeting of Bradford Council’s Executive Committee and could proceed to a local referendum.
The Ilkley Neighbourhood Plan has been prepared by Ilkley Town Council and has been the focus of an independent examination.
The independent examination is now complete and subject to the incorporation of a number of modifications it meets basic conditions outlined in law.
The plan has been developed by the town council over a number of years with extensive community engagement and consultation.
The plan sets out a vision for the future growth and development of the Ilkley area up to 2030 together with nine objectives which include sustainable residential development, services and facilities, cultural landscape, biodiversity and ecology, traffic and transport sustainable access, leisure and tourism, sustainable economic development and social inclusion.
Bradford Council’s Executive, when it meets on the 1 March, is recommended to agree for the plan to proceed to a local referendum.
If a majority is achieved in favour of the plan it would then be adopted and become part of the statutory Development Plan for the Bradford District.

“The local plan sets out an ambitious vision for the area to ensure it thrives whilst preserving the things local people value.
“We look forward to seeing how people respond to it in the local referendum.”
