The first of two consultation events on keeping communities safe is taking place in Skipton this week, hosted by North Yorkshire PFCC Philip Allott.
Mr Allott, who was elected to the role earlier this year, is putting together a Police & Crime Plan and a Fire & Rescue Plan for 2021-2024, with a three-month consultation period as part of the process.
The 'Your Safety, Your Priorities, Your Plans' consultation will visit Skipton for the first time on Friday 17th September, with an event on the High Street between 10am and 4pm for residents to find out more. The consultation is seeking views on what the priorities for police and the fire and rescue service in North Yorkshire should be.

The plans being developed and consulted on are:
- Police and Crime Plan 2021-2024 – sets out the vision and priorities for North Yorkshire Police, community safety and victims’ rights, as well as the objectives and ambitions that the Chief Constable will be held to account against.
- Fire and Rescue Plan 2021-2024 – sets out the strategic vision, priorities and objectives for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for how it will better respond to the need of our communities.
North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Philip Allott said: “Ensuring our communities are as safe as possible is my number one priority but while I have lots of ideas of how we can achieve that, I want to ensure my plans for the future reflect everyone’s priorities.
“This wide-ranging and extensive consultation is part of my commitment to ensure transparency in decision-making and ensure we can make a difference to the lives of everyone across North Yorkshire and York.
“I look forward to meeting with many of you. Everyone can also have their say online in my survey and I would ask you to take the short amount of time needed to take part by answering the questions and giving your honest views.
“These documents which we need to produce by law have long titles and complex requirements, but they are all about one thing – your safety, which is why I want to know your priorities to ensure they are your plans. Please get involved in this consultation and have your say. I promise it will be listened to.”
As well as this week's event on Skipton High Street, another will take place on Friday 15th October.
