Police appeal after serious road crash near Carleton

North Yorkshire Police have put out an appeal for information after a collision in South Craven that left a teenager critically injured in hospital.

It happened on West Road between Carleton and Colne, near to Elslack Woods on Friday (2nd September) at 4.45pm.

Officers say the crash involved a light blue-coloured Fiat 500 which was travelling from Colne towards Skipton and left the road.

Emergency services including the air ambulance attended the scene and the driver, a 19-year-old man from Colne and passenger, a 19-year-old woman, were taken to hospital. The woman has since been discharged from hospital, however the man remains in a critical but stable condition.

Roads policing officers are particularly keen to trace the driver of a white BMW estate car which was seen in the area at the time of the collision, who may have information which is important to the investigation.

Anyone with any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Traffic Constable 123 Geri Tunney of the Roads Policing Group. You can email geri.tunney@northyorkshire.police.uk or call 101, select option 2 and ask to speak to TC 123 Geri Tunney. Please quote reference number 12220157255.
