Plan to close Keighley road aims to stop fly tipping and "criminal behaviour"

By Chris Young, Local Democracy Reporter

A country lane on the outskirts of Keighley could be closed off to cars in a bid to prevent “fly tipping and criminal behaviour.”

Bradford Council plans to make Hainworth Road an “access only” road for cars – meaning the only motor vehicles who can use it are ones that need to access the neighbouring fields or woodland.

The notice would apply to an unadopted stretch of the road between Ingrow Cricket Club and a short distance from the junction with Woodhouse Road.

The Council’s notice says: “Concern has been expressed by the local community about how to prevent fly tipping, criminal and anti-social behaviour on the unadopted section of the road whilst maintaining pedestrian, cycle and horse use.

“The proposed restriction will alleviate these concerns, improving road safety by the removal of through traffic and reducing the potential for vehicular conflict with pedestrians.”

Anyone who wants to object to the order can email legalobjections@bradford.gov.uk before May 12.
