Objections for planned new Denton bridge in Ilkley

Outline planning has been submitted for a new bridge adjacent to the existing Denton Bridge between the A65 Coutances Way and Denton Road.

Mrs Linda Spencer, of Aire Valley Park Ltd has submitted an outline application to Bradford Council for a new vehicular bridge, capable of allowing two-way flow, alongside the existing bridge which would be restricted for use by just pedestrians and cyclists.

The application has attracted many objections including from both the Environment Agency on flood risk grounds and Ilkley Town Council. who see no apparent need for this proposal other than to facilitate development on the Middleton hospital site.

A transport assessment has been prepared by Sanderson Associates Ltd on behalf of Gordon Halton Homes for the proposed bridge. Halton Homes owns the former Middleton Hospital site in Carter's Lane, which it has been seeking to redevelop.

The full application can be view at https://planning.bradford.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=R9AJSXDHIEX00
