New Mayor and Deputy elected to Keighley Town Council

At the Annual Meeting of the Keighley Town Council Thursday evening members elected a new Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor for the year ahead.

Cllr Luke Maunsell has been elected as Town Mayor for 2022/23 and Cllr John Kirby has been elected as Deputy Town Mayor.

Town Mayor, Cllr Luke Maunsell said 'Seven years ago, I joined Keighley Town Council to serve the people of Keighley and those in my ward of Oakworth. I never imagined that I would have the honour of becoming the Mayor of Keighley and look forward to representing this town over the next 12 months. I want to thank each and every councillor for their support including the former Mayor Julie Adams and my new Deputy Mayor John Kirby.

Over the next year, I will be raising money for two Keighley charities, Dementia Friendly Keighley and It's Worth Talking About. I would ask for your support in raising as much as possible for these two amazing causes which are very close to my heart.'

Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr John Kirby said 'I am delighted to have been elected as Deputy Mayor for the forthcoming year. I look forward to supporting our new Mayor and serving the people of Keighley. I joined the Town Council in 2014 and have served as the Chairman of the Allotments & Landscapes Committee for 6 years. I will continue my interest in environmental projects to ensure the council contributes to improve the environment around Keighley.'
