New Ilkley business helping in the fight against Coronavirus

Dominic Roberts and Mark Whaites of GermzAway, along with Robbie Moore MP

Ilkley business GermzAway Group Limited welcomed local MP Robbie Moore to its new Golden Butts Road premises this week to show off its 99.999% effective sanitiser solutions.

Director Dominic Roberts gave Mr. Moore a guided tour and told him about the West Yorkshire firm’s collaboration with Lancashire-based Viroklenz, which has resulted in the distribution across the UK of one of the most effective sanitisers on the market for killing viruses, germs and bacteria.

GermzAway has been manufacturing touch-free sanitiser dispensers and sanitation stations for a range of business sectors at its Wilmot Hall unit for just over a month, having signed a lease at the beginning of July. Through its link with Viroklenz, these sanitiser solutions come filled with a cruelty-free and environmentally friendly anti-bacterial foam that is 99.999% effective and doesn’t dry out the hands like most alcohol-based alternatives.

Dominic Roberts told Ilkley and Keighley’s Member of Parliament about how the UK-manufactured sanitiser stands out from most of the market by being non-toxic, vegan-friendly and proven in laboratory testing to kill 99.999% of germs and bacteria. Mr. Moore also learnt about GermzAway’s aim to cut out plastic waste through providing refillable pump bottles for customers to carry with them when they are out and about, as well as discovering more about the foam’s active ingredient, Chlorhexidine.

Chlorhexidine is a disinfectant and antiseptic that was first introduced into medical use in the 1950s. It features in the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines, the core items needed to run an effective health system. Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic that is used for disinfecting skin before surgery and sterilising surgical instruments. This effective ingredient is also utilised in cleaning wounds and preventing dental plaque, and can be found in toothpaste, antiseptic mouthwash, eye drops and deodorant.

Robbie said: “It was great to visit the brand-new business Germzaway based in Ilkley who are helping in the fight against Coronavirus. I’m pleased to see another local company trying to tackle Coronavirus with their alcohol-free sanitising products, making it accessible to people of all faiths and cultures.

"The company are looking to give free micro mist units to schools across the constituency to help keep schools safe and sanitise quickly. They have created new jobs for local people, and it was really interesting to find out more about their sanitising products.”

GermzAway Director, Dominic Roberts explains: “Our mission is to provide the UK with hygienic, sustainable and environmentally friendly hygiene solutions to prevent the spread of harmful viruses, germs and bacteria, whilst being kind to skin. We are delighted to now be able to offer Ilkley businesses and all surrounding areas our products and hygiene solution services.”
