New Chief Operating Officer for Airedale Hospital

Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer, Leanne Cooper, who joined the Trust last month.

Leanne was previously Deputy Chief Operating Officer at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust and brings extensive operational experience in urgent care.

She began her career in Biomedical research and is also a qualified accountant, having worked in both financial and operational leadership teams at Morecambe Bay. Her achievements include securing financial investments and leading on improvements to the quality of care.

As she joins Airedale NHS Foundation Trust Leanne will focus on supporting the teams to have the right resources to provide high quality health services for the community and on reducing waits for elective or planned care, after the unprecedented demands on the service due to COVID.

Leanne will also be supporting the Trust’s bid for the government’s New Hospital’s Programme, to help ensure Airedale is a hospital fit for the future.

Leanne says: “I am delighted to be joining Airedale, and looking forward to working with the Board, our teams and our colleagues to continue our improvement journey.

“I’m coming to a trust and a local health partnership that has improving care and experience of our communities at its heart.  I'm really looking forward to joining the team to contribute to that ambition”.

Foluke Ajayi, Chief Executive of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust says: “We are delighted that Leanne has been appointed and welcome her to Airedale. She is analytical and innovative and able to work with colleagues and partners to develop solutions to healthcare pressures, something that will stand her in very good stead.“
