MP holds talks with Chancellor over re-build of Airedale Hospital

Keighley and Ilkley MP Robbie Moore has made the economic case for a full re-build of Airedale General Hospital in Steeton during a meeting with the Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, at 11 Downing Street.

The local MP, has already had meetings with the Health Secretary and the Prime Minister in recent months.

Plans were submitted for a new hospital to be built back in summer 2021, with a decision originally due to be made by the government in Spring 2022.

Robbie Moore MP said: "Following my meetings with the Health Secretary and the Prime Minister, it was great to meet the Chancellor at Number 11 to make the case for a full re-build of Airedale Hospital.

"My two site visits at the start of this year were a sobering reminder of the strain that Airedale hospital’s infrastructure is under, and I made it clear to the Chancellor that further ward closures at Airedale Hospital would detriment our local economy and affect health care provision across West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and parts of East Lancashire.

"I will continue to campaign for an Airedale rebuild in Parliament and across all levels of government, as it is vital we have a fully equipped and modern hospital fit for my constituents in Keighley and much further afield.”
