Monthly breakfast club set up for Ilkley armed forces and veterans

Veterans and serving members of the armed forces are being invited to a new monthly meet-up in Ilkley.

The breakfast club takes place on the last Saturday each month from 10am until 12.30pm at The Listers Arms (Wetherspoons) in Ilkley town centre.

The group is part of a national network of Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Clubs, which have an ethos of mutual support.

Members also plan to meet up socially at Regimental/Association Dinners and other functions.

All services veterans are free to turn up and will be made welcome.

A spokesperson for the group said: "We invite all members of the armed forces both serving, veterans and their families to our group. Come and find out more about us and what we do, meet new people, make new friends, share stories and have a bit of banter in a safe, social, friendly and informal environment."

Local MP Robbie Moore attended the first event held at the end of May and said: "A huge well done to Cpl RAFP Mark Sugrue for organising and bringing everyone together. It was great to spend the morning chatting to veterans over breakfast and hearing stories about life in the armed forces.

"I am hugely supportive of this initiative, as it provides armed forces personnel and veterans the opportunity to get together informally every month for a catch up."

The next one takes place on Saturday 24th June from 10am.
