Manorlands patients and staff enjoy Timothy Taylor's for Beer Day Britain

Timothy Taylor's brewery in Keighley has donated a selection of its real ales to Manorlands Hospice to mark the annual national beer day.

Today (15th June) is Beer Day Britain, so the brewery has provided bottles and cans, which will be made available to patients who'd like to enjoy a drink with their lunch or evening meals.

At the hospice’s inpatient unit in Oxenhope, Sue Ryder Nurses and hospice staff aim to create a relaxed environment to bring patients and their loved ones comfort and a sense of normality during a difficult time.

Hospice staff will also be invited to raise a glass at home at the end of their shift so that they too can join in with the celebration of Britain’s national drink.

Sarah Bottomley, Service Director at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, said: “At Sue Ryder we believe that the end of someone’s life is a very important time. Our care teams do all they can to make room for the things that matter – like spending time with loved ones, sharing stories, jokes and memories, and filling their final days with love. It’s wonderful that Timothy Taylor’s are helping to bring patients and their families together through their generous donation and we are truly grateful for their ongoing support.”

Scott Cameron, Senior Brand Manager at Timothy Taylor’s, said: “It’s an honour to be in the position where we are able to donate beers to the residents and hard-working staff at Manorlands. The hospice is very close to our hearts here at the brewery, with many of our own staff’s families supported by them over the years. Beer has always been a great way to spread joy, and everyone should be given the chance to raise a glass to our national drink on Beer Day Britain.”

Timothy Taylor’s is a long-time supporter of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice and a much-valued member of the Manorlands Challenge Committee. The brewery contributes heavily towards the committee's two fundraising events each year - The Coniston Challenge Day and Beef & Beer Dinner, which have raised in excess of £1 million since 2004.
