Man arrested following Skipton arson attacks this weekend

North Yorkshire Police have arrested a man in his 20s in connection with arson attacks on two cars in the Shortbank Road area of Skipton on Saturday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a vehicle on fire at the junction of Shortbank Road and Greatwood Avenue in Skipton at around 3.45am on Saturday 13th November. 

On arrival it was found a second vehicle had been set alight at the junction of Shortbank Road and Hurrs Road. 

A shed had also been set on fire at an address on Hurrs Road. 

Police say they have arrested a 25-year-old man near the scene on suspicion of arson. He has subsequently been released on bail.

Officers are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Fire crews were also called to another vehicle fire at around 5.20am on Airedale Avenue.
