Local fundraisers hand over £18k to Manorlands Hospice

The Silsden and Steeton Fundraising Group has presented a cheque for £18,825 to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice following a record-breaking year of activities.

The group, which organised a range of fundraisers throughout 2022 to support Manorlands held its annual Christmas Dinner at the Krafty Kitchen in Skipton last week, where the total raised for the year was revealed.

The amount is the highest in the group’s four-year history and was raised through events including a ceilidh, hamper raffle, bingo nights and participation in the Sue Ryder Mascot Gold Cup.

Members of the group also gave up their time to help Acorn Stairlifts with their annual garden party and supported the Silsden Proms on the Farm event in the summer.

Diane Sugden, chair of the fundraising group, said: "It's brilliant we have raised so much for a great local cause - and we have had such a fun time doing it too!”

Andrew Wood, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, said: “We’re so grateful for the support of our dedicated local fundraising groups, who go above and beyond to ensure we can continue providing the expert palliative care and bereavement support we are so well known for in the local area.

“Raising over £18,000 in just one year is an incredible achievement, which will help Sue Ryder be there when it matters for families going through the most difficult times of their lives.”
