Keighley Healthy Living appeals for donations for digital inclusion project

A Keighley charity is hoping to raise £5,000 to support people to develop basic IT skills.

Keighley Healthy Living, based on Scott Street in central Keighley is looking for donations for a digital inclusion campaign, which will enable the charity to continue a series of IT courses for beginners.

The current courses are an enormous success and have been at full capacity since launching back in 2022. The waiting list is long enough to warrant another series of courses and one-to-one sessions taking place, so the charity has launched an appeal to raise £5,000 to fund the project. It has been backed by the Aviva Community Fund, which means any pledges made will be match-funded by Aviva.

The courses encourage people to develop skills to enhance quality of life and protect themselves against cyber-crime. The courses cover the basics of IT from turning a device on to more advanced tasks such as using online banking and online healthcare services.

Keighley Healthy Living CEO Melanie Hey said ‘We believe that by helping to develop IT skills in our community, we can impact multiple aspects of a person’s life; financially, socially and for better health.

"After seeing the impact that the current courses and one to one sessions have on our service users, we are now raising additional funds to ensure more and more people in Keighley have access to online services and have skills to use technology in their daily lives."

The campaign runs until 15th May and you can make a donation at avivacommunityfund.co.uk/p/digital-inclusion-keighley
