Keighley Cougars will play in the Championship next season after this weekend's victory saw them promoted as champions of BetFred League 1 with two matches still to play.
They sealed a top place finish after winning 48-18 at Doncaster, meaning there's likely to be a party atmosphere at Cougar Park this coming Sunday (28th August) when Keighley play North Wales Crusades in their final home match of the season. Cougars then travel to Rochdale Hornets for the last game of the year on 4th September.
The promotion means next summer will be Cougars' thirteenth season in rugby league's second tier since the move to summer rugby - and their first time back in the Championship since 2014.
Cougars owner Ryan O'Neill tweeted: "A unique privilege to experience this. Thank you to the exceptional players, coaches and staff who made this happen. Thank you to the supporters for your faith and dedication. A very proud moment for our team, our family, and our town."
Keighley MP Robbie Moore wrote on Twitter: "Well done to our mighty Keighley Cougars!!!! So, so proud!"
Councillor Susan Hinchliffe, Leader of Bradford Council, said: “This is wonderful news. Everyone is absolutely delighted and I want to congratulate the club for this magnificent achievement. The Cougars fully deserve their success.
“Sport plays a critical role in inspiring people across the district and we’re currently working with the Cougars to help them secure a community grant to upgrade Cougar Park.
“The future certainly looks very bright for the club and we will do everything we can to support them to continue to succeed.”
