Ilkley's Thursday Club to take a summer break

The Thursday Club, a warm space in Ilkley, will be taking a break for the summer.

Held at the Winter Garden each Thursday, the 6th April club will be the last until September and will feature live music from the Ukulele band and the usual provisions including newspapers from Tesco.

Cllr Anne Hawkesworth, instigator of Thursday Club said: “It was the initial “Warm Space” in Ilkley providing warmth, company and a warm welcome with free coffee, biscuits and newspapers, and have been very popular.

“Because of the original concept of providing warm space so residents could turn off heating and come to Winter Garden, it has been decided to take a summer break.

“Over the months we have had chocolate biscuits from M&S, mince pies provided by Specsavers. Other confection provided by Friends of King’s Hall and the venue by Bradford Theatres. Tesco have been real sports giving newspapers including Ilkley Gazette every week.

“I know many who come on Thursdays would love us to continue during summer, but in order to be fair to volunteers, numbers could reduce with holidays etc, this decision to take a Summer break has been taken.”

“The message is, see you all first Thursday in September.“
