Ilkley woman given OBE in King's first Honours list

Ilkley resident Helen Webb has been awarded the OBE in King Charles' first New Year Honours list.

Helen receives the award for services to Equality, Inclusion and Wellbeing. Until this summer she was the Chief People and Services Officer for the Co-Op group, and before joining the Co-Op in 2014 she held senior roles with Sainsbury's, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons, Asda and Aviva.

She is also a Non-Executive Director at the housing association and charity Housing for Women, and recently became a Trustee and board member at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Also on the 2023 New Year Honours list is the former Deputy Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, Phil Cain, who retired in January 2022 after 20 years with the force - he receives the King's Police Medal (KPM). The same honour goes to Russ Foster, who is about to leave his role as Deputy Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police to take up a new role as Chief Constable of the Isle of Man Constabulary early in 2023.

West Yorkshire's Chief Fire Officer - John Roberts - receives the King's Fire Service Medal (KFSM) and the same honour also goes to his colleague Chris Kemp, who is West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service's Senior Fire Protection Manager
