Ilkley supermarket partners with local charity

Booths manager Jim Verbeken with charity Chair Penny Coulthard

A new working partnership will see Ilkley & District Good Neighbours and the Booths store in Ilkley working together over the next twelve months.

Shopping at Booths will be able to donate any spare change they have to the local charity who will have collection buckets located throughout the store. They can also scan a QR Code and donate online and read more about the work the charity delivers within the local community or how to become involved as a volunteer.

Jim Verbeken, Store Manager of the newly refurbished Booths store in Ilkley said, “Every Booths store is able to partner with a local charity and I felt that the range of services Ilkley & District Good Neighbours provides for their clients, especially their Shop Assist programme, made them the perfect choice. We hope our customers will view this new working partnership as something really positive.”

Penny Coulthard, Chair of Ilkley & District Good Neighbours added, “Founded in the 1970's, Ilkley & District Good Neighbours operates a range of social and practical schemes aimed at improving the lives of older people in the area. Apart from Shop Assist its projects include Home and Garden Assist and its social support ranges from one to one Befriending to its Moving On Friendship group, which meets weekly in Ilkley at the Clarke Foley Centre. During the covid pandemic the charity also played an important role in the community by working with the Ilkley Corona Response Group with volunteers providing support to individuals in need.”
