Ilkley Literature Festival launches podcast series

Ilkley Literature Festival have launched the third season of ‘Settee Seminars’, a podcast series of fascinating short talks by leading experts.

Available now, season three features five new episodes by University of Leeds academics, covering Skipton’s hidden history as the home of a Prisoner-of-War Camp during the First World War; Charles Dickens’ enduring legacy and celebrity status; the global climate crisis and deforestation; how the Victorians inspired the World Wide Web, and the resonances between the works of novelists Elena Ferrante and Fyodor Dostoevsky.

First launched in December 2020, the podcast aims to introduce listeners to a wide range of interesting subjects. The first two seasons explored topics such as Fidel Castro’s visit to Harlem in the 1960s; 5G technology in the Covid Age; postcolonial literature; the experiences of Black West Indians living in Britain, and more.

All three seasons are available now to enjoy for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Further reading lists are available in the episode descriptions of your podcast app, or on the Ilkley Literature Festival website.
