Haworth to stage its first Santa Fun Run this year

Rotarians in the Worth Valley are organising their first ever Santa Fun Run, which will take place in Haworth on Saturday 26th November.

The Rotary Club of Haworth & Worth Valley hopes thousands of pounds will be raised from the event to support small local groups through its Community Grant Scheme.

The club’s 5km Santa Fun Run is open to runners of all abilities and will be run over ten laps of a circular course using Central Park's established footpaths.

It’s hoped that each runner will raise sponsorship from their family, friends and colleagues for each lap covered, and cash raised will go into towards the Community Grant Scheme which is run by the Club’s Charitable Trust.

Ian Park, the President of the Rotary Club of Haworth & Worth Valley, said: “This is a new venture for our club. Our first Community Grant Scheme in 2021 was an amazing success and we’d love to repeat it in 2023.

“We’re hoping that not only experienced runners will take part and that it will be a real fun event that attracts all the members of the family – some to run and others just to cheer them on.

Details of how to enter the Rotary Club of Haworth & Worth Valley’s first ever ‘Santa Fun Run’ can be found at https://haworthrotary.co.uk/go/santa.

Runners need to buy a ticket to take part, and can purchase an optional Santa suit which will be available to collect on the day of the run.

Ian added: “This is going to be Haworth’s park run of the year and the added bonus is that all the funds raised will be helping other organisations in the Valley through these tough times.”

The Great Skipton Santa Fun Run is also taking place again this year - on Sunday 27th November.
