Wave of Nostalgia in Haworth has been shortlisted as one of 8 regional finalists in the British Book Awards' Independent Bookshop of the Year category.
It's the second year running that the independent bookshop has made the final nominations alongside other bookshops in the North of England.
The judges looked not only at how successfully shops traded, but also what they did in their local community and how this impacted on bookselling and range. Equally, they wanted to hear how well the shop became a destination for book lovers.
Tom Tivnan, managing editor of The Bookseller praised the finalists’ innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity', saying that entrants this year were "stronger than ever, connecting with their communities in innovative, thoughtful and deeply engaging ways.”
Diane Park, owner of Wave of Nostalgia commented “The last year has been a tough one for everyone and we’re delighted that our hard work has meant our little business has continued to flourish. To cap it all, we are amazed and excited to find out we’re Regional Finalist in the Independent Bookshop of the Year category of The British Book Awards 2023. It’s really very special and we’d like to thank our wonderful customers and suppliers who helped us to achieve this accolade once again this year.”
The shop will now compete with the other finalists for the title of “Northern Region Independent Bookshop of the Year” - including one in Halifax and one in Harrogate - with the winner announced on 16th March and going forward to the national awards in May.
