Friends of the Wharfedale Greenway welcome new members at AGM

Earlier this month members and supporters of the Friends of the Wharfedale Greenway met for a well attended Annual General Meeting at Burley-in-Wharfedale library.

The meeting heard about what the group has been up to since being established in March 2021, as well as the most recent information about route planning.

During the meeting elections were held for an expanded committee to support a wider range of work over the next 12 months. The group now has 11 committee members and area reps.

The group's re-elected chair, Antony Butcher, said "It's wonderful to be welcoming new faces to the committee as we continue to raise awareness and support for the Wharfedale Greenway. There has been some great progress on planning the greenway over the last 15 months, and I'm excited to see what the next year has in store".

The Friends of Wharfedale Greenway is a community group set up to support plans for the Wharfedale Greenway, a multi-use path being planned to run between Pool-in-Wharfedale and Bolton Abbey. Planning for the route is being led by local councils along the route of the proposed Greenway.

Re-elected Vice Chair, Colm McCann, said "it is good to formalise representation from settlements along the proposed route and have volunteers offering different skills. I'd like to thank the previous committee for their hard work and dedication in the initial 15 months"
