Buses across Keighley are more running more often a part of the new Spring timetable which has come into effect.
The Keighley Bus Company has partnered with Metro, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority's travel network to add extra buses to local routes - including twice as many journeys on some.
The bus firm says it’s encouraged by progress made so far in attracting people back to its buses since lockdown restrictions lifted, with busiest routes on its Keighley network reporting customer numbers reaching almost 80 per cent of pre-COVID levels.
It's hoped the additional services will help to attract around 10,000 extra customer jouneys each week.
The Keighley Bus Company’s General Manager Alan Isherwood said: “This is our first positive network review in West Yorkshire since pandemic travel restrictions were lifted. We’ve analysed current travel patterns in and around the town as well as emerging trends post-lockdown – now we’re set to bounce back with a better service for Keighley.
“We want to build on the multi-million-pound investment by Transdev in new, Euro VI ultra-low emission buses for our town. We’ve put in considerable effort alongside our partners at Metro to build a network that’s fit for the future.
“These improvements show our commitment to Keighley’s recovery and for us, this is just the beginning. We want to work hand in hand with the town’s business community and do everything we can to support businesses and the local economy.
“Several areas will see increased timetables and, in some cases, double the number of buses on selected routes. New timetables will be available shortly on buses and from Keighley Bus Station Travel Centre and can be viewed now on our website.”
Here's a route-by-route summary of the changes that take effect from today (Sunday 15th May):
Route K1: to and from Laycock
Doubled to run every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday
Routes K2 and K3: to and from Braithwaite
Increased to run every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday. No change to evening or Sunday times
Route K4: to and from Bingley and Cullingworth
New simpler route replacing current K13, K17 and K19, every hour Monday to Saturday
Route K5: to and from Thwaites Brow
Doubled to run every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday. Buses every hour evenings and on Sundays
Route K6: to and from Fell Lane
Doubled to run every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday. Buses every hour evenings and on Sundays
Route K7: to and from Oakworth
No changes, continues every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday, hourly evenings and on Sundays
Route K9: to and from Bracken Bank
Minor changes to the evening timetable: buses run every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday, every hour evenings and on Sundays
Route K10: to and from Spring Bank, Ingrow and Oakworth
Replaced by route 67 serving Spring Bank every hour with K7 and K9 continuing to serve Ingrow and Oakworth
Route K11: to and from Exley Mount:
New timetable with buses every hour Monday to Saturday
Route K12: to and from Blackhill:
Revised timetable with buses every hour Monday to Saturday
Routes K13, K17, K19: see Route K4 above
Route K14: to and from Scar Top and Oxenhope:
New timetable running seven days a week
Route K15: to and from Oakworth
New route serving Oakworth, Harewood Road and Bracken Bank
In addition to the above changes, one Sunday journey on Route 62 from Ilkley to Keighley will run four minutes earlier throughout, while on Route 67 from Keighley and Cullingworth to Bradford, buses will now serve Spring Bank and will run to new times, creating a more even service frequency alongside Team Pennine Route 502.
