Explore the delights of communal crafting in Ilkley this Saturday

Mrs Duttons Wondrous Workshops open day on Saturday

On Saturday 4 September, Mrs Duttons Wondrous Workshops at 3 Church Street invites you to step inside and explore the delights of communal crafting in Ilkley.

From 11am – 4pm, visitors can pop in for treats, tasters and to meet some of the talented Yorkshire artists, designers and makers who make up the new crafting centre’s talented team of tutors.

You can try your hand at some of the more unusual crafts on offer - giant knitting and yarn spinning, anyone? Take an embroidery world tour, from the Dales to Japan. Start your Christmas list by signing up to crochet Nordic gnomes, quilt a North Country winter wreath or knit Christmas socks (with West Yorkshire Spinners’ eagerly awaited Christmas 2021 wool).

Plus there are Duttons for Buttons own crafty kits to be won. With the growing enthusiasm for needle crafting amongst men, the team will be gauging interest in a Tom Daley inspired knitting class and a Sewing Boot Camp covering the sewing basics that George Clooney knows every chap should master! Plus an opportunity to suggest any missing crafts (or to say ‘hello’ if you’re an experienced tutor).

Outside, Ilkley firm Balloon World are making sure the crafting destination can’t be missed, whilst inside staff and tutors will be there to greet you with delicious Mrs Duttons Wondrous Workshops’ biscuits and complimentary fizz from Church Street neighbour, Majestic Wines.
