Annual School Football Festival kicks off in Keighley

Marley Activities and Coaching Centre

Bradford Council’s annual Bradford District Schools Football Festival is back after it had to be put on hold for the past two years due to the Covid pandemic.

The five-a-side tournament takes place this week at Marley Activities and Coaching Centre, Keighley, from 27 to the 30 June.

The event has been organised by Bradford Council’s Community Sports & Activities Development Unit for over 20 years.

Boys and girls aged between eight and 14 will take to the field each evening to play in a spirit of friendship.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: "We’re delighted that pupils from schools from across the district are once again able to take part in this event after it had to be put on hold due to the Covid pandemic. It’s great to see young people coming together through sport. I hope friends and relatives will go along and give them some support.

All members of the winning and runner-up squads in each of the five age groups (under 9 up to Under 14s) will receive a leather football and trophies respectively. Every participant will receive an attendance certificate.
