The Finance Team at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust have taken home two awards at the National Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Yorkshire and Humber Branch Annual Conference 2022.
The conference took place on Thursday 23 June and showcased the vital contribution that finance staff play in healthcare across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Izaaz Mohammed, Assistant Director of Finance, was awarded Finance Professional of the Year.
This award recognises individuals who show professional excellence in financial management and leadership and the contribution they have made to their organisation and towards the improvement in health or healthcare locally.
Izaaz was chosen from six other industry professionals due to the significant contributions he has made to the Finance Team at Airedale NHSFT. This includes helping them to achieve Level 2 Future-Focused Finance (FFF) accreditation in January 2022, working with the FFF lead on a plan to achieve Level 3 accreditation and proactively raising the profile of the Trust through sharing best practice and presenting at regional and national events.
Izaaz was nominated by his fellow colleagues who stated: “The pride that Izaaz takes in his work is visible every day, this has earned him an excellent reputation across the Trust.
“Everyone needs an Izaaz – he is one in a million!”
Izaaz was delighted with his win and says: “I have the privilege of working with some amazing people at Airedale, and to be nominated by my colleagues for this award is a real honour.
“We have achieved so much over the last few years as a team and winning these awards is a fantastic way to recognise all the progress that we have made in ensuring the Trust delivers high-quality, cost-effective healthcare to our patients.”
The Finance Team were also awarded Finance Team of the Year at the conference.
The team were honoured for the dedication, efficiency and quality of work that they have demonstrated over the past year and the support they have provided to neighbouring trusts.
The team have worked hard to ensure Airedale NHS Foundation Trust was one of the 31 organisations nationally that was awarded level 2 accreditation of Future Focused Finance. They were also recognised for the work they put into securing the National HFMA Diversity & Inclusion award in December 2021.
The team have been pro-active in raising the profile of the Trust across WYAAT and beyond through sharing best practice and have delivered presentations to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership. They have also provided workshops on working towards their level 2 accreditation to colleagues across the region to help them achieve their level 2 accreditation.
