ABBA night raises over £3000 for children’s charity

Mike Davies, MBE with ABBA Tribute band, Kiss The Teacher

An event featuring the music of seventies super-group ABBA has raised £3600 to help some of the region’s most vulnerable children.

The event, held at Ilkley’s Craiglands Hotel, was organised by The Principle Trust Children’s Charity which provides free respite breaks to children who are underprivileged, disadvantaged, disabled, have life-limiting conditions, or who have experienced poverty, trauma or abuse.

160 supporters of the charity donned seventies attire and danced the night away to iconic hits performed by leading ABBA tribute band ‘Kiss The Teacher’.

Launched in 2011, The Principle Trust Children’s Charity was established by Ilkley businessman Mike Davies, MBE.

Over the past decade the Trust has raised over £1m and provided respite breaks for over 4500 children across the Yorkshire region.

Thanking supporters of the event, Mr Davies said: "I’m grateful to everyone who came to our ABBA tribute night, to the staff at the Craiglands Hotel and to fantastic tribute band ‘Kiss The Teacher’.

"Everyone had a great time and we were delighted to raise over £3,000.

"Every penny raised will fund respite holidays for vulnerable children and their families."

Funds raised on the night will provide seven families with a week’s respite holiday.
