Worth Valley rotary group launches grant scheme

Rotarians from Haworth and the Worth Valley have announced they are taking applications for small grants to assist local organisations.

The Rotary Club of Haworth and Worth Valley's Charitable Trust is making up to £2,000 available to small charities, clubs, companies or support groups - to enable them to continue with projects that support residents of the Worth valley.

To be considered for a grant, typically of around £500, organisations need to fill in an application form at haworthrotary.co.uk/go/cg or email info@haworthrotary.co.uk to request an application form.

Ian Park, the Club’s President, said: “Connecting with the community is a key objective for Rotarians and this new scheme is one of our club’s major projects for the current Rotary year.

“We’ll be happy to receive applications from organisations within the Worth Valley but it’s important to remember that we’re looking to support groups that involve people who live in the area and that our focus will be on the initiatives they are taking, not on running costs.

“It’s the first time that we’ve undertaken such a scheme and we’re excited about the possibilities of helping other groups in the Valley.”

The grant scheme will accept applications until 28th March, with the trustees then determining which ones have been successful and making the awards during April.

Nicholas Oughtibridge, Chairman of the Trust Fund’s trustees and the club’s Immediate Past President, added: “Once the awards have been made we will be looking at how the grants are applied and remaining in touch with the group.

“If this new scheme works well then we will explore the possibilities of running it on an annual basis.

“At the same time we’ll be happy if individuals or other organisations want to join in this scheme by making donations to the fund so we can assist more groups throughout the Worth Valley.”
