Warning to 'be prepared' with two days of heavy rain forecast

Residents and businesses are being warned to be prepared with the Met Office issuing an Amber warning of rain for Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Heavy rainfall combined with some snowmelt across the hills is likely to lead to some flooding.

Bradford Council has posted on its Facebook page 'Please check our website for lots of useful information including contacts you might need if there is a flood, how to protect your property and prepare a flood pack, and a checklist of what to do if your property is threatened with flooding."

The Met Office has the following information for an Amber warning:

Heavy rainfall combined with some snowmelt across the hills is likely to lead to some flooding.

- Homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life
- Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely
- Spray and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- A good chance some communities cut off by flooded roads
- Power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses likely

Further information about protecting your property is available on the Met Office website.
