Skipton firm raises £600 for Ukraine through bake sale

A charity cake bake held by staff at Skipton furnishing store, The Home Company, has raised £600 to help the people of war-torn Ukraine.

The idea of sales assistant Joyce Rickett, the cake bake was held in the courtyard area outside the showrooms at High Corn Mill on Chapel Hill.

Joyce says: “It was a glorious day, and we had a really good turn out with everyone who came along donating very generously to the cause. Local businesses and shops were also incredibly supportive in terms of making and donating cakes to sell on the day.

“In all we raised nearly £400 from the sale of cakes and coffees, and this was then topped up to £600 by High Corn Mill owner Andrew Mear. Everyone at the shop – myself, Mark Smith, Michelle Swinscoe, Naomi Walsh, Vicky Rushton and Linda Lee – got involved and we’re all absolutely delighted with the outcome.”

Money raised from the cake bake will go to The British Red Cross appeal to help with urgent supplies for families and communities impacted by the crisis in Ukraine and the border countries.
