MP finds out about knockout success of local boxing club

Local MP Robbie Moore has been shown the ropes at Eastburn Amateur Boxing Club and found out about how the club is making an impact on the lives of young people in the area.

Established over 25 years ago, it's a not-for-profit boxing club founded by local Yorkshire regional boxing coach and judge Naz Jalil.

In recent years, Eastburn Boxing Club’s gym has become a community hub for young people, with girls and boys of all ages and abilities attending the club’s regular pay-as-you-go sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings to learn new boxing skills, socialise and train for upcoming competitions.

Affiliated with England Boxing, the club is run by qualified coaches Mark Robinson - a former local boxer - and Neil Mcleod, an experienced Muay Thai competitor, alongside founder Naz, with a combined experience and expertise of over 40 years.

The club has trained some exceptional boxing talent in recent years, including the undefeated Josh Holmes and recently turned professional boxer Joe Garside.

If you or your children are interested in joining the club, contact the club by email at eastburnabc@gmail.com or find out more at https://eastburnabc.wixsite.com/eastburnabc.

Commenting on the visit, Robbie Moore MP said:  “I saw first hand how coaches Naz, Neil and Mark are installing a real sense of discipline, determination and confidence into our young people - teaching them them valuable boxing skills whilst also helping them to grow outside of the ring.

"As a volunteer led and not-for-profit organisation, Eastburn Boxing club are always looking for new sponsors and donations, so please do reach out to them.

"It can often be quite daunting to join a new club - but Naz and Mark put you at ease as soon as you walk through the door!”
