Bradford Council is to extend its Order and Collect Service for books to Ilkley from early August.
Plans to open Silsden, Menston and Burley libraries in July have already be announced, with Keighley already offering the service.
The new service which allows customers to order books by reserving from the Bradford Libraries’ online catalogue as well as by email or phone, this next step will make it easier for book lovers to collect and order books from a total of twelve libraries across the District.
Customers will be able to collect their book orders at an agreed time slot from libraries that are open. There will be a single collection point in each library and customers will also be able to return their books.
To help customers make book choices and discuss reading preferences, library staff will also be available via phone and email and will put together a pack of books for customers.
In common with other library services across the country Bradford Council has planned for a gradual, phased approach to reopening libraries that prioritises the safety of staff and customers.

Bradford Council is opening Libraries in a phased way in order to make sure that the right safety measures are in place in each Library as it opens. Over the coming weeks the aim is to open more Libraries, as well as other services, such as computer access, book group provision and community learning.
The ever popular Summer Reading Challenge, launched in June, will be a predominantly digital offer and young readers are able to join now until September. More information and fun activities included in the Summer Reading Challenge 2020 can be found on the Summer Reading Challenge Silly Squad website www.sillysquad.org.uk. Bradford Libraries are also offering Silly Squad Summer Reading Challenge packs to children and these can be collected along with book orders from open libraries.
In addition, the Home Library Service is delivering books to customers across the district who are less mobile, and digital access to e-books and other online resources are available through the libraries webpages. We’d like to thank customers for their patience and understanding at this difficult time.
“We’ve seen over 1,000 books reserved and borrowed in the first two weeks of offering the Order and Collect service and we are really pleased that we will be able to offer this service to more of our customers across the district who have missed using the library.”
