Keys stolen during break-in at Embsay water treatment works

Police have appealed for information and witnesses after a water treatment works was broken into earlier this week in Embsay.

Officers say on Monday evening (18th March) the lock to the contractor's cabin was drilled and keys to dumper trucks and diggers from the site were stolen. The machines themselves were not stolen but the keys may operate similar machines not linked to the site. Unsuccessful attempts were also made to enter a storage cabin.

CCTV shows a white, long wheelbase, van enter the Treatment Works at 7.53pm. The registration number is not visible. Two suspects in dark clothing exit the vehicle and drill the locks to both cabins. After unsuccessfully breaking into the storage cabin they make further attempts to gain access by ramming it with their vehicle.

If you saw anything or have seen a similar vehicle acting suspiciously you're asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 1224004760.
