100 year old Keighley war veteran Tom Moore has been officially knighted by Her Majesty The Queen in a private investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.
Captain Sir Tom raised nearly £33m for NHS charities through a sponsored walk around his garden in Bedfordshire earlier this year.
He had originally set out to raise £1,000 - but the media attention on the fundraiser meant the total just kept going up and up.
Tom was born and brought up in Keighley - last month a 24-metre sign was erected in his honour on the former Keighley College site on North Street.
Capt Sir Tom described today's investiture as "the most special of days for me".
The Queen told him: "Thank you so much, an amazing amount of money you raised."
Buckingham Palace believes it is the first time the ceremony has been held in the strictly socially distanced format.
The Queen used the sword that belonged to her father, George VI, to bestow the insignia of Knight Bachelor on Captain Sir Tom.
Arise, Captain Sir Thomas Moore!
