Keighley Playhouse presents comedy "Yes, Prime Minister"

Yes, Prime Minister will run at Keighley Playhouse from March 11th to 16th

Keighley Playhouse is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of "Yes, Prime Minister," directed by the talented Robin Martin. This hilarious and insightful comedy will grace the stage of the Keighley Playhouse on Devonshire Street from 11th to 16th March.

Adapted from the beloved British television series by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, "Yes, Prime Minister" offers a satirical take on the inner workings of government. Set in the corridors of power at 10 Downing Street, the play follows Prime Minister Jim Hacker, played by the charismatic Mark Rundle, and his clever Cabinet Secretary, Sir Humphrey Appleby, portrayed by the talented Michael Padgett, as they navigate the complexities of politics with wit and humour.

Joining them on stage are Harry Rundle as Bernard Woolley and Gill Stead as Claire Sutton. This dynamic cast brings the iconic characters to life with their impeccable comedic timing and stage presence. Additionally, Mike Boothroyd takes on the role of The Director General of the BBC, Mark Brown as TV News Presenter Simon Chester, and Tim Steere as the Kumranistan Ambassador, adding depth and flavour to this unforgettable production.

The UK is in crisis, debt is spiralling, unemployment is on the rise and the fragile coalition cabinet, led by Prime Minister Jim Hacker, is at breaking point. But salvation may exist in the form of a complex pipeline deal with the oil-rich country of Kumranistan that would entitle the government to a multi-trillion-pound loan. When the Kumranistan Foreign Secretary makes a shocking request of Jim's Private Secretary Bernard Woolley, moral considerations collide with the economic future of the nation. But how will Jim and his team, Bernard, Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby, and Special Adviser Claire Sutton, reconcile the two? Political machinations, media manipulation and an appeal for divine intervention ensue.

Director Robin Martin brings his wealth of experience and artistic vision to "Yes, Prime Minister," promising audiences an evening of laughter, intrigue, and sharp political satire. "We are thrilled to present 'Yes, Prime Minister' to our community," he says,  "This play offers a hilarious and insightful look into the world of politics, and our talented cast is sure to deliver a performance that will leave audiences laughing and thinking long after the curtain falls."
