Bradford Council has announced the re-opening of The Leisure Centre in Keighley from today (Friday 11th September).
The town's swimming pool will be open again for the first time since March, with the gym facilities and fitness classes also in operation.
The move follows the government's relaxation of restrictions on gyms and leisure centres across the whole of England from earlier this week.
Bradford Council says it has been putting systems in place to ensure that the facility is safe for customers to return and that there are enough staff to support them.
Ilkley pool remains closed, but is expected to re-open in the coming weeks as part of a phased plan by the council.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for health people and places, said: “We are grateful for the patience shown by those who want to return to our gyms, pools and dance studios during this difficult period.
“Keeping fit and active is important to both the physical and mental health of people in the district and reopening these facilities will provide an additional option for residents.”
“We have also had to make sure we abide by the Government guidelines and continue to make these facilities as safe as possible so they can continue to enjoy their sessions and remain healthy.”
If you want to use Keighley Leisure Centre you will need to book and pay online in advance via bradford.gov.uk/sport-and-activities/sports-centres-and-pools/the-leisure-centre-keighley/
Contact details will need to be given for test and trace purposes.
Bradford Council also says that leisure centre memberships will remain frozen - so anyone using the council gyms and pools will need to pay each time they visit the site to take part in a session.
Meanwhile, Craven Leisure has been reopen again since 25th July as the Craven district wasn't subject to local coronavirus restrictions. Swimming and fitness sessions at the site in Skipton's Aireville Park can be booked via cravendc.gov.uk/craven-leisure/
