Work from artists in Keighley ranging from ceramics to photography and prints to paintings is being exhibited at the Bradford Industrial Museum.

Thirteen artists and artisans from the Keighley Creative charity have produced work for the 'Following Threads' exhibition which is being showcased at the museum until January 2023.

The art works have an ‘industry and our environment’ theme, in response to collections housed within Bradford Council’s museums and galleries. Each artist followed their own ‘thread’, to create pieces showing what can happen when something in a collection, coupled with an idea, sparks your imagination and creates something new.

The contributing artists are studio holders at the Keighley Creative hub in the former Sunwin House building on Hanover Street, or are trustees of the art charity.

Naseem Darbey, Creative Lead at Keighley Creative, said: “The work was made over only four months, to ensure an ‘instant’ response was captured; no overthinking was allowed.

“We hope this gives the exhibition a sense of immediacy and excitement, and our threads reel you in to find your own favourite objects within the museums and discover their stories.”

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s executive member for healthy people and places, said: “We’re delighted to be able to host this exhibition at our Bradford Industrial Museum, showcasing the work of these talented local artists and artisans.

“Taking inspiration from our collections and the landscapes of the district, they have created some remarkable pieces which really tell the stories of our industrial heritage, and in some cases using the actual printing machinery from our collections to create new pieces to celebrate the culture of the Bradford district.”

Entry to Bradford Industrial Museum is free. The museum is at Moorside Mills, Moorside Road, Eccleshill, Bradford BD2 3HP. Details are on the Bradford Council website at
